Description Yucca torreyi is a Texas Native plant that can be used as a shrub or with age a small tree. Native to the Chihuahuan Desert Great Yucca is one of the most common tree-like Yuccas seen in West Texas. This Yucca can reach heights of 10-30' tall so make sure to give it plenty of room when planting. Leaves on Torrey's Yucca are stiff, up to 3' long, blue green in color with sharp points at the ends. With age Yucca torreyi will produce a 4' spike of white fragrant bell shaped flowers, this is usually late spring and may not be every year. The plant shape is asymmetrical and it can have an untidy appearance, giving it the name "Old Shag", but it can be trimmed for a neater appearance in the landscape. As with most Yuccas this one likes it dry, it will require little water and good drainage. Great Yucca is a great addition for any Xeriscape or WaterWise Landscape. Hardiness: USDA Zones
