Description

Vitex agnus-castus is a deciduous shrub that is native to China. This shrub exhibits fast growth getting up to 15-25' tall with an equal spread and will thrive in the heat. The foliage is somewhat interesting being palmately compound with green above and silver beneath. Peaking in June and lasting until frost are terminal spikes of mildly fragrant blue-purple flowers, these are 3-6" long. Chaste Tree generally has a multi trunk habit and will tolerate dry, infertile, as well high pH soils. This shrub is also drought and heat tolerant.
