violacea ![]() |
Description Tulbaghia violacea is a fast growing plant that forms clumps reaching 30 inches in height. This plant grows well in wet or dry circumstances and makes a good rock garden or container plant. The plant has gray-green narrow leaves that are somewhat evergreen in warmer climates. Society Garlic gives off a garlic scent and has been said to help rid gardens of mole problems. The flowers are lilac in color and the plant will bloom from midsummer to early fall. The leaves of Variegated Society Garlic are green edged in white. The flowers are slightly larger than the species and range from deep lilac to white. Tulbaghia violacea 'Variegata' is not as vigorous as the solid green species and is somewhat slower growing. Hardiness: USDA Zones 7-10
