| Ratibida columnifera ![]() |
Description Growing to only 15” instead of the 3-4 feet, ‘Red Midget’ is a dwarf variety of Ratibida that is about half the size of the native. ‘Red Midget’ also has a more compact growth habit and is well branched. Ratibida columnifera ‘Red Midget’ has long black cone heads and the grey-green fern-like foliage compliments the dark red, re-flexed petals that are trimmed in yellow. Red Mexican Hat likes rich soils and needs good drainage. The seeds of Ratibida spp. are a favorite of birds providing food in the fall. Hardiness: USDA Zones 3-11
