Description Mexican Live Oak is native to West Texas and is readily becoming available to the nursery trade. It is resistant to live oak wilt and is a hardy tree that should be considered a substitute for the Hill Country live oak. Quercus polymorpha has an upright growth when young but spreads to 60’ wide as it matures and will reach a height of 80’. This beautiful oak tree has dark grey to brown scaly bark with reddish-brown twigs and pubescent buds. Hardiness: USDA Zones 7-10
