Loblolly Pine

Pinus elliottii - Slash Pine

Description

Pinus taeda is a Texas Native to the eastern portion of the state. In fact this is what most East Texans think of when they hear Pine. The Loblolly Pine can reach 50-90 feet and sometimes more and should be spaced at least 12-15 feet apart. This Pine does best in a well drained acidic soil, although it can tolerate some poor soil conditions and is much more adaptable to Southern growing conditions than conifer trees such as spruce or firs. This is one of the fastest growing Pines so it is great to use a screen.
