Description

Magnolia grandiflora 'Samuel Sommer is a selection of the Southern Magnolia with dark green, leathery, and glossy leaves. The underside of the leaves sports a beautiful rusty-red fuzz. This Magnolia is evergreen and has a fairly fast growth rate. At maturity Samuel Sommer Magnolia can reach 30-40' tall with up to a 30' spread. From seed this Magnolia can take 15 years to bloom! Not to worry from cuttings it only takes 2-3 years. The blooms are an amazing 10-14" in diameter and will usually have around 12 petals.
