Description A native to New Zealand, Carex testacea 'Prairie Fire'™ is in the ColorGrass® Program and is one of the most popular choices for landscape use in New Zealand. This grass has tufted evergreen foliage with a clumping growth habit. The foliage is olive green with orange-brown highlights that appear with full sun at the tips. This Carex will also sport that orange-brown color in the fall and winter months. Orange New Zealand Sedge will flower in midsummer with spikes 20-24" tall. Later fruit will set and the spike can elongate up to 5 feet. This grass great in smaller areas only reaching 24" with a 24" spread. Carex testacea 'Prairie Fire'™ works great in the landscape as well as in mixed containers, particularly fall-themed. Hardiness: USDA Zones
