Description

Gardenia jasminoides 'Frostproof' is a fast growing evergreen shrub that originated in China. In late Spring fragrant velvety white double flowers cover the dense mound of glossy dark emerald green foliage. Frostproof Gardenia likes moist, well-drained acidic soil and can reach 3-4' tall with a 3-6' spread at maturity. as the name 'Frostproof' indicates this Gardenia selection is more tolerant of cold and can take a light frost without dropping buds. This cultivar has also been shown to take more sun than others.
