capillus-veneris
|
Description This spreading fern is a native to North American, including the Great state of Texas! Southern Maidenhair Fern is evergreen in warmer areas but will become deciduous in temperatures below 28°F. Adiantum capillus-veneris likes moist conditions all year round, but it must have good drainage. This explains why it grows so well on limestone next to dripping or running water. Southern Maidenhair fern can reach heights of 10-22" and can spread much beyond that. This spreading habit makes it great to use as a groundcover. Just make sure it stays moist or it can go dormant in the summer. Hardiness: Zones 7-10
