| Euonymus
japonicus
|
Description Dr. Dave Creech Director of the SFA Mast Arboretum brought us this one, all of the way from the Chollipo Botanical Garden in South Korea. We thought, oh boy! another Euonymus! Euonymus japonicus 'Chollipo' has proven to be much better than your typical Variegated Euonymus, we have not seen spot, rot, and it also does great in full sun. The leaves have a dark green center mottled with a lighter shade of green, the edges are cream colored. The Variegated Euonymus are some of the few shrubs that remain variegated in full sun. It has spherical, pink-tinged white fruit but it is rarely produced. Euonymus japonicus 'Chollipo' is an rapid upright grower that can get up to 12 feet tall and 6 feet wide, is tolerant of salt spray and is great for use as a screen or windbreak.
