Citrus unshiu 'Seto' - Satsuma Mandarin

Description

Citrus unshiu 'Seto' is a variety that was developed in Japan by controlled pollination of 'Miyagawa' Satsuma. Seed was sent from Japan in the mid 1980's to the TAMU Research and Extension Center. Seto Satsuma Mandarin has an drooping and low spreading growth habit and is a more cold hardy variety of Mandarin. The leaves are more oblong compared to the variety 'Miho'. It is also an early maturing Citrus, the fruit changes color in late summer and should be harvested in mid to late fall. The peel on the fruit is thin and smooth making it easier to peel for consumption. Citrus unshiu 'Seto' can reach 13-15' in height.
