Caesalpinia mexicana - Mexican Bird of Paradise

Description

Mexican Bird of Paradise is a small tree native to Texas and Mexico with bright yellow fragrant flowers from spring to fall. The foliage is fine textured, similar to Mimosa spp. and is light green in color, the foliage is somewhat coarser than C. pulcherrima. Caesalpinia mexicana can freeze back in the winter but it will quickly sprout back in the spring. Mexican Bird of Paradise is heat and drought tolerant and can grow to 10-20' tall.
