Description Red Columbine is a Texas Native that has 1-4" bell-shaped and spurred blooms of contrasting red and yellow colors. The nodding flowers appear in Spring on long stems held above dark green foliage. Plant in sandy, fertile soil for good drainage and don't overwater, this will prevent crown rot. Aquilegia canadensis can be grown in sunny areas but will resist summer dormancy if grown in partial to full shade and will come back in the Spring even hardier after a cold period. Cut back Red Columbine after the first bloom for a second flush of flowers. This plant can reach 24-36" tall with a 18" spread at maturity. Hardiness: USDA Zones
