Agave sisalana - Sisal

Description

Agave sisalana is a rosette forming succulent that has sword shaped green leaves and is from the Yucatan region of Mexico. This is a sterile hybrid possibly involving A. angustifolia and A. kewensis and has been used to make rope and fiber. The edges of the leaves are nearly spineless with age but this Agave does produce a sharp spine at the tip, which can easily be clipped off in high traffic areas. Sisal can reach 6' has a spread of 6'. Great for Xeriscapes as a specimen plant with it's large size and vase shape.
