Description Acer buergeranum is a native to China and Japan and can reach 25 feet in height at maturity. This low spreading deciduous tree has 3" tri-lobed leaves that are dark glossy green on the top and blue-green on the undersides. The foliage will turn various shade or reds and oranges sometime in the fall. In the Spring months Trident Maple will bear yellow flowers which are not that significant. Acer buergeranum is a great tree for the landscape because it is tolerant of wind, salt, drought, air pollution, and soil compaction but is also used as a decorative patio tree and is a favorite to use as bonsai specimens.
